New Recording: Hold the Light (Demo)

So, I did a thing.

It's been a good few years since I last wrote a full song. It's been even longer (20+ years) since I took the trouble to try and record it.

But I recently came across a letter from an old friend that was penned to me about that same 20 years ago. He sent it to me (along with a CD footage of some of our gigs) when I first moved to Australia, and urged me not to give up on the music side of things.

He was (is) a good friend.

I, on the other hand, was not a great listener, and I ended up leaving the actual making of music up to others far more talented than me.

Anyway, I was cleaning out the garage the other day, and came across this letter. It got me feeling all sorts of nostalgic for the old days. So I pulled out some old, half-finished lyrics from one of my other storage boxes.

I went into my study, and recorded a demo.

Here it is.

It's messy. It's simple. It reminded me that I have literally no idea how to master vocal tracks whatsoever.

But it's mine.

Ps. Art work by my 9-year old, who custom drew this for me based on the title alone… and that might make me happier than anything.
